Yellow snappers are medium-sized predatory fish common in Pacific coastal waters. They form daytime aggregations over reefs and take shelter in caverns solo at night. These adaptable fish tolerate brackish to saltwater environments and feed on a variety of smaller marine animals.

Where they live

Found over hard-bottom reefs from shallow waters down to 60 meters deep. They tolerate brackish and some freshwater and are common in Pacific inshore reef areas.
