Juveniles inhabit estuaries and sheltered bays, moving to open coastal waters as they mature. They are known for their active swimming and coastal migrations before spawning.
Where they live
Found from Victoria to southwestern Australia, yellow-eye mullet occupy estuaries, sheltered bays, and coastal waters up to 50 meters deep. Juveniles prefer lower salinity areas, while adults move toward open coastal zones.
