The West Australian dhufish is a large, territorial saltwater predator found near reefs in coastal waters. They grow up to 1.2 meters and are prized by anglers for their strong fight and size. Juveniles inhabit shallower waters while adults stay near deeper reefs on the continental shelf.
Where they live
Found in coastal waters off Western Australia, typically near deep reefs or rough bottoms from 1 to 200 meters depth. Adults are usually solitary and territorial, commonly near submerged reefs on the continental shelf.
