The vermilion snapper is a bright red, medium-sized snapper found in the western Atlantic. It is a popular game fish prized for its fight and tasty flesh. This species inhabits deeper waters and feeds mainly on fish and invertebrates.
Where they live
Found in the Atlantic Ocean including the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico, vermilion snapper prefer depths between 40 and 300 meters over rocky bottoms and reefs.
