How to catch Trout cod
Maccullochella macquariensis

The trout cod is a freshwater predator native to Oceania, recognized for its fusiform body and sporting a maximum length of about 85 cm. It inhabits diverse stream conditions ranging from fast riffles to deep river holes. This species feeds on insects, crayfish, shrimp, and smaller fish, sometimes displaying cannibalism.
Where they live
Found in upland streams and larger rivers over varied substrates like bedrock, gravel, and submerged timber. Prefers water temperatures between 14° to 28°C, occupying both still and flowing waters, with larger trout cod residing in deep holes near falls and rapids.
