The Tope shark is an elongated, medium-sized shark known for schooling behavior, especially in southern Australian waters. It migrates seasonally and is a demersal predator that hunts various fish and cephalopods. This species is valued as a game fish by anglers.
Where they live
Found over continental shelves and slopes in the Atlantic, Indian Ocean, and Mediterranean, the Tope shark inhabits depths from shallow waters down to 1100 meters. It often forms schools of similar size and sex, especially in southern Australia where it migrates seasonally to warmer waters.
