The Surmullet is a striking red mullet found mainly in the Atlantic and Mediterranean. It is a coastal species known for its bright red color and striped appearance. This bottom-dwelling fish feeds mainly on crustaceans and small benthic creatures.
Where they live
Common near coastal waters in the Atlantic and Mediterranean, usually found between 5 and 100 meters deep on sandy or rocky seabeds. Prefers broken, rough grounds as well as soft bottoms.
