The Stargazer is a fascinating saltwater fish known for its unique upward-facing eyes and ability to generate electric pulses. It hides buried in sand or mud, waiting to ambush prey. This species can produce painful stings with its shoulder spines, making it a remarkable predator in its environment.
Where they live
Found in the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea, Stargazers inhabit sandy or muddy bottoms from shallow waters around 15 meters down to 400 meters deep. They often bury themselves for camouflage while hunting.
