The spotted moray is a nocturnal, eel-like fish common in shallow rocky, grassy areas and coral reefs. It is a solitary predator known for its powerful bite and is often cleaned by small shrimp and gobies. Despite its menacing appearance, it plays a key role in reef ecosystems.
Where they live
Found in shallow to deep waters up to 200 meters, the spotted moray inhabits rocky bottoms, grassy areas, and coral reefs across the Atlantic, Caribbean, Gulf of Mexico, and parts of the Pacific near North America.
