It inhabits depths from the outer continental shelf down to abyssal slopes and often moves higher from the seafloor at night. This species is a predator that feeds mostly on fish, crustaceans, and cephalopods.
Where they live
Found in deep waters ranging from 25 to 1300 meters, commonly near seamounts and underwater ridges in Atlantic, Mediterranean, and North American saltwater regions. Juveniles live pelagically.
