Southern blue whiting is an elongated saltwater fish found in southern Atlantic and Pacific waters. It preys on various small squids, krill, and fish at mid to deep depths. Though not typically targeted as a game fish, it supports important commercial fisheries.

Where they live

Found in deep cold waters of the southern Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, typically between 50 and 900 meters depth. Prefers offshore continental shelf and slope environments.
