The silky shark is a large, sleek predator found mainly around deepwater reefs and insular slopes. It hunts fish and sometimes cephalopods and pelagic crustaceans. When threatened, it may display a distinctive arched posture as a warning.
Where they live
Silky sharks live in saltwater habitats including the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea, often near deep reefs and slopes from the surface down to depths of 4000 meters.
