The roughtail stingray is a large coastal ray identifiable by its rough tail. It inhabits sandy and muddy bottoms along coasts in the western Atlantic. It is a predator that hunts various bottom-dwelling animals.

Where they live

Found in brackish and saltwater along the North American Atlantic coast, dwelling over sandy and muddy bottoms from shallow waters around 3 meters to depths of 270 meters.
