The Pacific lamprey is an eel-like fish known for its parasitic feeding habits. It spends much of its life in the ocean before returning to freshwater to spawn. This species inhabits diverse aquatic environments from shallow streams to deep ocean waters.

Where they live

Native to the Pacific coast of North America and parts of Asia, Pacific lampreys migrate between the ocean and clear coastal streams where they spawn and develop. They can be found in freshwater, brackish, and saltwater habitats, from shallow riffles to deep ocean zones.

Up to about 76 cm
