The Narrow-barred Spanish mackerel is a sleek, fast predator found in tropical and subtropical waters. It undertakes long migrations but also has resident populations near reefs. Highly prized by anglers, it can grow quite large and is known for its strong fight.
Where they live
Found in saltwater across the Atlantic, Pacific, Indian Ocean, and Mediterranean. Prefers shallow to moderate depths (10–70m), inhabiting coastal reefs and open water. Notable for longshore migrations along the east coast of Australia.
