The Manybar goatfish is a saltwater fish found in the Pacific and Indian Oceans. It is known for its distinctive banded appearance and fusiform body shape. This species often hunts crabs, shrimps, and small fish along the seafloor, typically alone or in small groups.

Inhabits inshore saltwater areas from shallow waters down to about 160 meters deep, common in the Pacific and Indian Oceans. Usually solitary or found in small groups near the bottom.
