How to catch Malabar trevally
Platycaranx malabaricus
The Malabar trevally is a pelagic gamefish known for its short, deep body and active predatory behavior. It inhabits coral and rocky reefs in inshore continental shelf waters, often forming shoals during its sub-adult stage. This species is prized by anglers for its fighting ability and prevalence in tropical Indo-Pacific regions.
Where they live
Found in saltwater coral and rocky reefs on the continental shelf, from shallow 20 meters down to about 140 meters deep. Juveniles prefer sandy bays, while sub-adults form shoals in tropical Pacific and Indian Ocean waters.
