The Kammal thryssa is a small, elongated schooling fish found mainly inshore. It lives near mangroves and mud flats, feeding selectively on plankton. This species inhabits both brackish and saltwater environments in the Indo-Pacific region.
Where they live
Occurs in shallow to 20-meter deep brackish and saltwater zones in Asia and the Indian Ocean. Found near mangrove inlets, intertidal mud flats, and subtidal mud flat edges, mostly schooling inshore.
