How to catch Japanese huchen
Parahucho perryi

The Japanese huchen is a large predatory salmonid known for its impressive size and strength. It inhabits lower and middle reaches of rivers and lakes, with some sea-run forms along the eastern coast of Hokkaido. Juveniles feed on aquatic insects, while adults are entirely fish-eaters.
Where they live
Found in freshwater and brackish waters across Asia and the Pacific, particularly in rivers and lakes, including sea-run populations off Hokkaido. Prefers lower to middle river reaches and can occupy depths from shallow areas down to 100 meters.
