The common dentex is a fierce saltwater predator known for its impressive size and fighting ability. It inhabits rocky and rubble sea bottoms and is mainly solitary as an adult. Juveniles tend to form schools and are sometimes caught in traps.

Where they live

Found in the Atlantic and Mediterranean, this saltwater fish lives mostly on rocky or rubble bottoms up to 200 meters deep but is usually seen under 50 meters. Adults are solitary while young ones group together.
