The Blacktip grouper is a predatory fish found on outer reef slopes and protected bays. It feeds day and night on a variety of crustaceans, fishes, and cephalopods. This species can reach up to 52 cm in length and is prized as a game fish.
Where they live
Inhabits outer reef slopes and protected bays from shallow 4 m waters down to 160 m depth across Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans. Prefers coral reef environments and lagoons.
