The black scorpionfish is a solitary and sedentary predator found mainly on rocky and algae-covered seabeds. It uses camouflage to ambush small fish, crustaceans, and other invertebrates. This species can grow up to around 40 cm in length.
Where they live
Found in saltwater environments of the Atlantic and Mediterranean, commonly inhabiting rocky bottoms with algae from shallow areas down to 800 meters deep.
