The Atlantic mackerel is a fast-swimming, schooling fish found in cold and temperate waters. It is known for its striking fusiform body and is a popular target for sport fishing. This species feeds on small fish and zooplankton and moves closer to shore in spring.

Where they live

Found in brackish and saltwater environments across the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean. It inhabits shallow to deep waters, forming large schools near the surface and moving to deeper areas during winter.
